Counting Costs - understanding and using costing information to make better decisions

Venue: Leeds

Speaker: Nigel Hiller

The current financial climate has moved having understanding of costs to centre stage and challenges all public sector managers to probe their spending more than ever before. Finance professionals have a key role to play in analysing and explaining costs to decision makers. You will also have to convince your organisation of the need for a cost conscious culture and that it should be central to all managers responsibilities. Nigel Hiller, Chair of CIPFA’s Financial Management Panel and Director of Finance at South Yorkshire Police will be sharing examples of how an understanding of costs has brought benefits. These have recently been published in a CIPFA briefing on creating a cost conscious culture, Counting Costs: understanding and using costing information to make better decisions. To book a place, please click below. This event is open to CIPFA members and students and members of other professional bodies who may be interested in the costing agenda.
