Legal issues affecting the SME 2011
Venue: GOMERSAL PARK HOTEL, Moor Lane, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, BD19 4LJ
Speaker: Louise Dunford
Company law continues to be very important to all small and medium sized practitioners, and we will look at any case law which has emerged in relation to directors’ duties, and extend the discussion to the duties of a director in a failing company. The position of members in small companies will be examined and, also that of minorities who are unhappy with the running of the company. We will also look at a few aspects of insolvency that may be relevant also. We will pick up on any company law cases which emerge over the year and which may be of interest to you and your clients. In the regulatory round up we look at money laundering including the most recent cases and also any aspects of data protection and health and safety relevant to the running of small and medium sized enterprises. We will discuss developments in employment law, in particular issues in relation to employment status, age discrimination and a few aspects of the new Equality Bill, how the new disciplinary and dismissal procedures are working and how to deal with short term and long term sickness. We will also look at the law relating to redundancy in detail.
