About Us
The Chartered Institute of Taxation, which is incorporated by Royal Charter, is the leading professional body concerned with taxation in the United Kingdom. Members of the Institute are entitled to practice as Chartered Tax Advisers. The objects of the Chartered Institute of Taxation are:
- To promote the study of the administration and practice of taxation and the principles of economic and political science in relation to taxation and public finance
- To facilitate the exchange of information and views on taxation and the creation of a well-informed public opinion on the subject. To provide opportunities for the acquisition and dissemination of useful information concerning taxation in the United Kingdom and other countries and to develop the technique of taxation
- To make representations and to promote Bills or to act in conjunction with any other public or professional bodies in so doing, upon questions of United Kingdom and international taxation.
Mission statement:
- To promote the aims and interests of The Chartered Institute of Taxation and The Association of Taxation Technicians and the members of both bodies.
- To advance education in, and to promote the study of, the administrative and practice of tax.
Membership of the Institute, and its sister body the Association of Taxation Technicians, is by examination.
The Leeds branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation is always pleased to welcome non-members to any of its meetings and hopes that members will encourage guests and students, whether of the Association of Taxation Technicians or other learned bodies, to join us.
